We have eleven board-certified pulmonologists who are experts in the evaluation of patients with breathing or lung problems, such as shortness of breath, chronic cough, and abnormal chest x-rays.

CIC Associates, P.C. has been designated as a Clinical Resource Center of the Alpha-1 Foundation.

  • Pulmonary Clinic

We provide complete evaluation of pulmonary conditions including: infections such as TB; lung cancer; interstitial lung diseases; forms of COPD such as emphysema, cystic fibrosis, and alpha-1-antitypsin deficiency; and sarcoidosis, as well as other uncommon pulmonary diseases.

  • Asthma Clinic

The Comprehensive Asthma Management Clinic began in the fall of 1992. Individuals with known or suspected asthma are evaluated. Patient education is an important aspect of the patient’s care as it helps the patient understand the pathogenesis and treatment of the underlying condition.

  • Pulmonary Function Lab

Our Pulmonary Function Lab utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and is staffed by Registered Pulmonary Function Technologists. The studies performed in our lab include: routine spirometric testing, lung volume determinations, diffusion studies and Methacholine Provocation testing, which permit rapid evaluation for reactive airways disease and lung disease. Serial testing to guide individualized patient therapy is also performed. Cardiopulmonary stress testing and arterial blood gases are available.

  • Bronchoscopy

Our pulmonary physicians are extensively trained in bronchoscopy, which has acquired a wide range of indications, both diagnostic and therapeutic. These include the diagnosis of endobronchial disorders, both benign and malignant. Via transbronchial biopsy and bronchoalveolar lavage techniques, the etiology of many interstitial lung diseases can be determined without the need for a thoracotomy. These techniques can also be helpful in the diagnosis of unusual pulmonary infections. Treatment of endobronchial obstructions of both a malignant or benign nature.

  • Pulmonary Rehabilitation

This multi-disciplinary program is located adjacent to Mercy Hospital Medical Center. It is designed to maximize compromised pulmonary function in patients who struggle with chronic lung disease. After an initial eight-week program, patients become involved in a once-weekly maintenance program. This allows patients to achieve their physical and mental capabilities.

  • Lung Cancer Screening

Mercy Cancer Center and its physician partners are committed to creating a healthier tomorrow for the communities they serve. A new lung cancer screening program will soon be available to detect lung cancer at its earliest stages and help patients get access to life-saving care as quickly as possible. Mercy’s dedicated Lung Navigator will work in collaboration with expert pulmonologists and thoracic surgeons to evaluate participants for lung cancer risk, schedule those at high risk for screening tests (CT scans), and assure referrals for necessary follow-up care are made with minimal delays.
